Our journey with Avon began as a search for an easy side hustle that could fit into our busy lives while providing a steady stream of income.

In early 2009, my husband Ady's overtime was stopped, which meant that we were going to be approximately £300 per month short. This meant there was too much month at the end of the money!

I applied to join Avon to try and earn some extra money to help out with the shortfall. My first order was £300.00, which for a 1st order was great. I carried on as a rep for 2 more campaigns.


I carried brochures that included my contact information. I ask people if they want to join my mailing list. I use sticky notes on the front of my brochures to write down their details. This helps me remember to follow up and build a relationship with them. I work efficiently and with purpose. time and work with intention.


One of the most significant advantages we discovered was leveraging our social circles. Friends, family, and acquaintances became our first customers, and we were pleasantly surprised by their enthusiasm for the products.


We quickly learned that building genuine relationships with our customers not only increased sales but also fostered a sense of loyalty and trust. The more we engaged with our clients, the more our sales grew, proving that personal connections are at the heart of Avon's business model.


At first, the low startup costs and flexible working hours caught our attention. We had our reservations, wondering, "Can this business really benefit us?" But as we delved into the possibilities, our scepticism soon turned into optimism.


The supportive community of other representatives offered valuable insights and encouragement, making it easier for us to take those first steps.


We explored digital marketing as we became more comfortable with the products and the sales process. Social media platforms became invaluable tools for expanding our reach beyond our immediate circles. By sharing product reviews, beauty tips, and special promotions online, we attracted new customers and cultivated a growing online community.


Then I started thinking I’m home on my own 2 or 3 evenings a week perhaps I could give Sales Leadership a try. I got in touch with my upliner. I Arranged to go out with her on 3 sign-ups the following Saturday. 


My team grew quite quickly, and I became an Advanced Sales Leader by the end of September 2011 with 20 on my team. At that time, I had to have two Sales Leaders, so Ady, who also joined Avon (he didn’t have a choice) as a Rep, said he would be a Sales Leader (he also worked full time) and slowly built his own team.


In 2010 my daughter was on Maternity Leave and decided to give Avon a go while she was at home so I signed her up as a new Rep. While she was home on Maternity leave from a job she hated, she saw how well I and Ady were doing at Sales Leadership so she decided to take her business to the next level. So now I had my 2 downliners. 


I was made redundant in January 2015 and after applying for several jobs while still working as a Sales Leader I decided that with my redundancy money which was only about 2 months' salary, I would concentrate on my Avon on a full-time basis.


Since starting as Sales Leaders we are in a much better financial position than we have ever been. We have had 2 foreign holidays a year for the last 6 years, Christmas is always paid for at the time so we don’t go into the New Year with Christmas Debt. 


By 2018 I was earning the same as when I was working full-time but no 6 am starts or 2hrs in rush hour traffic. Adrian took early retirement to concentrate on his Avon business full-time. Towards the end of 2018 between us, we achieved an all-expenses paid weekend in Paris and a 5-day break to Tenerife.


I work from home so I can still sometimes pick up our grandchildren from school. I go out for lunch once a week with my friends. Adrian goes to Wales Rugby international matches and plays Golf. We are much happier and far less stressed.


It is now almost 2025, my main goal is to get to Bronze Executive and earn approx. 35K.
